Texas Hill Country

Jason Varney
Serious boutique shoppers head to Fredericksburg’s Main Street, which throws together a much more eclectic mix of stores than the average antiquing town. Find Hill Country shopping items like men’s guayabera shirts, hip baby clothes, and more on offer, but expect busy sidewalks before Christmas, on weekends, and during the peak seasons. As always, savvy bargain shoppers should hit the sales after the holidays, when chilly-for-Texans temps keep tourists at bay.

Red

Unearth everything from vintage clock faces to affordable leather satchels at what must be one of the Lone Star State’s most up-to-the-minute boutiques. Founded in 2006, the shop’s assortment of custom furniture, retro finds, and handmade gifts was so popular that the owners relocated the goods to a larger, airier Main Street storefront in May 2010.
