A Stylish Stay at the Missoni Hotel in Kuwait City

The fall line might take a backseat to Missoni’s other design endeavor this September, when the fashion house debuts its second Missoni Hotel in Kuwait City (Hotel Missoni Edinburgh came first in 2009).

In true high-end fashion, the 169-room resort will feature luxury touches, including a mosaic-lined outdoor swimming pool, 13,000-square-foot Six Senses Spa, and an 18th-floor bar with views of the Arabian Sea. The menu at Cucina, the resort’s restaurant, will skew more to the homey side, with old family recipes from Missoni co-founder, Rosita Missoni.

Designed by Rosita herself, the resort’s turquoise, gold, and beige décor reflects both the surrounding beaches’ palettes and the distinctly bold, patterned Missoni look. Its spot in central Kuwait City, filled with historic sites, modern architecture and numerous museums, ups the chic hotel’s vibrant atmosphere even more.

If the Missoni’s in-your-face designs  tickle your shopping bone, fear not: The hotel is not only near the city’s main shopping area, which is home to some of the finest retail therapy in the world, but is also part of a new luxury retail development that will include a Missoni boutique.

Partnering with Rezidor Hotel Group (the name behind Radisson Blu’s stylish digs), the Missoni brand plans to open three more hotels in South Africa, Brazil and Oman by 2012. I’m sensing an atypical-destination trend, here!
