The Bunn House in Asheville, North Carolina marries the bed and breakfast experience of staying in a beautiful home, but omits the whole eating-with-strangers part that many of us would rather avoid. Here, guests receive the best of both worlds: a historic, five-room property that sits on an acre of land, complete with personal touches like local snacks and cozy blanket for rooftop snuggling. The posh linens and steam showers are far from the doilies and lace you'd find at most historic-home properties. We checked in and here's what we loved most (hint: everything).
What’s Hot: There are so many surprises in store while staying at The Bunn House. Just one example: During our stay over the holidays, the small keyless lobby (great for privacy) housed a "cheer tree" decorated with complimentary mini liquor bottle ornaments and a sign inviting guests to enjoy a cocktail. The nearby mini bar provided accruements to mix a drink -- ideal for enjoying before stepping out to dinner.
Best Feature: A cozy rooftop area that's stocked with blankets, snacks, and drinks -- complete with views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and downtown Asheville.
The Rooms: Every detail was put into consideration when designing the rooms. Beds are dressed in Frette linens (also towels and robes of the same brand). We loved the Lencore sound machine, which was built into the wall for soothing white noise. The bathroom was equipped with a steam shower, L'Occitane en Provence products, and heated floors. Plus, each room has a private balcony or terrace.
The Food: There is no restaurant on-site at The Bunn House; instead, rooms are stocked with local organic granola and organic milk for breakfast, snacks for long hikes, sweet treats, local beer, and red and white wine.
Who Will Love It: The secluded, quiet luxury is perfect for a romantic couples' weekend (swoon).
Who Might Not: Partiers. This is not the place for your raging bachelor party, nor is it for families -- guests must be 21 years of age at this boutique hotel.

Getting There: 15 Clayton Street, Asheville, NC 28801: Located off of highways 240 and 26, the best and really only way to get here is by car.
