Earlier this month, Hotel Zephyr -- an eclectic and colorful 361-room hotel snug along San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf -- opened its doors. And there's a great discount to celebrate.
For fall, we found a nightly rate of $389 -- down from $649 -- for the third and fourth weekends in September. That's not a small amount, but it's a good value considering the location and the high-season (read: pricey) timing. The deal is even sweeter if you have more flexibility in travel dates later this year. We found great prices available just after Labor Day weekend on September 8 and 9, at $263.40 per night, and November 17 and 18, at just $215.40 per night.
It's noteworthy, too, that we've been seeing the best prices on the hotel's own website rather than a third party booking site. For example, on July 4, third-party hotel-booking sites list a rate of $398. The hotel, on the other hand, offers a $287 rate -- a $111 savings.
More about Hotel Zephyr: In the rooms, you can expect funky design details like porthole windows looking out onto San Francisco Bay, a bar-height work area, and a dartboard and backgammon to help you unwind. No matter which of the six room categories you opt for, you'll enjoy a Keurig coffeemaker, mini-refrigerator, a 1933 historical map of San Francisco, and free WiFi. (One dog under 80 pounds is allowed in each room, with a $75 cleaning fee per visit.)
