Until now, travelers had to rely on hearsay to know how good or horrible an airport was. But thanks to TripAdvisor, airport ratings are now just a click away.

The site, which currently offers reviews for restaurants, hotels, and attractions, has announced that it is opening a platform for airport reviews. Now users will be able to rate their airport experiences and help others find the best restaurants, places to sleep, and stores closest to a gate.

Singapore’s Changi Airport is the first airport to get its own page. TripAdvisor plans to roll out pages for more than 200 airports around the world. The pages will also be available in 28 languages on the TripAdvisor mobile app.

Considering how much time we spend in airports, TripAdvisor hopes these pages will give travelers the opportunity to build a community.

“Over 3.1 billion travelers pass through airports each year,” said Adam Medros, TripAdvisor’s senior vice president, global product. "We want to help them quickly find things to do on the site while they’re waiting to catch a flight, or book an airport hotel when they need a place to stay.”

The pages will also offer general three general sections of information entitled “Stay near the airport,” “Eat before you board,” and “Inside the terminal.” In addition, the airport pages will also help travelers find the cheapest flights to and from specific airports.

Pages devoted to London Heathrow and New York’s John F. Kennedy International will launch in July.
