Anticipating the fall season conjures up many thoughts: foliage, football, harvest festivals . . . 4-star hotels? Maybe not the first thing that comes to mind, but for our new weekly roundup of favorite travel deals, we found a number of hot bargains for stays at 4-star properties during September, October, or November.

Not quite ready to embrace sweater weather? Stay at the posh Viceroy Palm Springs for as little as $111 per night on weeknights throughout the fall. That’s $60 less than the lowest rates you’ll find anywhere else, including the biggest online travel agencies (you know who we’re talking about). You’ll feel simultaneously relaxed and so very stylish lying by the minimalist pool with a cocktail in hand, or getting a massage at the indoor-outdoor spa. The hotel is also within walking distance to downtown Palm Springs and some of the area’s best golf courses.

Looking to get away this instant? The Miami Spice Festival showcases the best of Miami cuisine with discounted three-course meals at some of the city’s finest restaurants. The catch? It ends on September 30. But if you're ready to pack up and go now, you can take advantage of sales at a number of 4-star Miami properties, like the trendy Surfcomber, a Kimpton Hotel. The Surfcomber is located in the center of stylish South Beach and offering rates from $197 per night during the festival, including a three-course dinner at the upscale Southeast Asian restaurant, Lantao Kitchen & Cocktails (click here and choose the "Stay More, Save More, Get More" promotion, then enter the promo code SPICE).  Meanwhile, rates at the Sonesta Bayfront Hotel in Miami's boho-chic Coconut Grove start from only $125 per night if you stay for any three nights from now through Halloween – a savings of 30 percent on the luxe hotel's fall rates.

We know some of you actually like that chill in the air, though. In New York City, rooms at Midtown Manhattan's DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Metropolitan start from only $159 per night during Thanksgiving Week, while the recently renovated Affinia Shelburne starts from $141 per night in November. We also found an Icelandair package that includes round-trip airfare from New York to Iceland, three nights at a 4-star hotel in Reykjavik, a visit to the Icelandic countryside to see the Northern Lights, and a two-course dinner for – drum roll, please – $787 per person. Those flights alone normally cost around $600, meaning you'll literally be getting the hotel stay, the meal, and the once-in-a-lifetime tours for less than $200 combined.

So, don't just stay home and carve pumpkins this season. Get out and make it a 4-star fall.
