Vacationers determined to score a behind-the-scenes look at the first family’s life could head to our chilly capital and request a tour of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, but we think jetting to the Aloha state and renting the beach home that the Obamas chose for their Christmas vacations in 2008 and 2009 sounds like a far cheerier (and sunnier!) choice.

Dubbed the “Winter White House,” the 4,951-square-foot Kailua Bay home is up for rent on vacation property site HomeAway.com, and it’s stocked with a suite of amenities fit for a president: Five bedrooms, each with a full bath; a master bath Jacuzzi with a view of the ocean; an outdoor, heated lagoon pool; and beachfront access.

Such finery, of course, comes at a cost: You’ll pony up at least $3,500/night for the home, which sleeps just 10 people.

Cost aside, you’ll want to act fast to book the property. Michelle, Malia, and Sasha Obama reportedly arrived at the home on Saturday, and federal officials have confirmed that Air Force One could land on Oahu as early as this evening; after the holidays, nearly all of January, February, and March are already reserved.
