Beginning March 25, veteran charter carrier Vision Airlines will give flyers more options for traveling the Southeast’s underserved airports as a new commercial flight provider. The airline’s upcoming scheduled nonstop flights and low fares (starting from as little as $79 each way) will build upon the limited options they started rolling out in December, and have been made possible in part by fee waivers from airports like Baton Rouge Metropolitan, which hope to revive traffic and tourism along the oil spill-affected Gulf Coast.

Twenty-three destinations will be serviced in all and though larger airports like Miami and Atlanta will get a glimpse of Florida-based Vision Airlines, the airline will be primarily focused on filling the market niche for reliable local service to destinations like Asheville, North Carolina; Macon, Georgia; and Biloxi, Mississippi. Budget-wielding tourists and honeymooners can take advantage of fares to Niagara Falls, the only Northeast destination serviced by Vision. Additionally, the airline asserts the lowest fares from 17 departure cities to six Florida destinations.

Baggage fees are based on when they are paid: In advance, the first bag costs $15 and the second $20. At the airport, the first bag goes for $25 and $30 for the second. Limited beverages and snacks are complimentary. www.visionairlines.com
