What It's Like to Cruise Alaska's Inside Passage

by  Kristen Boatright | Aug 12, 2016

The sights of Alaska are unlike anything else in the United States, including untouched wilderness, massive glaciers and mountains, and diverse and abundant wildlife such as brown bears and bald eagles. During the cruise season, which typically runs from May to September, more than a dozen lines offer itineraries along the two main routes: through the Inside Passage in southeast Alaska or along the Gulf of Alaska.

We hopped on Holland America Line’s Nieuw Amsterdam for a seven-night itinerary through the Inside Passage, departing from Vancouver and stopping in Juneau, Ketchikan, and Skagway. While on board, we spoke with Holland America Line's Alaska location guide Humberto Ferro to get the scoop on what each destination has to offer. Watch our video above for more.
