South Australian Wine Country Itineraries

Long Weekend

Spend at least 1 day in Adelaide, taking in the local sights. Then hit the road for a 2-3 day drive through the Adelaide Hills to the Barossa Valley, stopping to sample the region’s best wines along the way.

One Week

Allow at least 2 days in to Adelaide to fully take in the local sights, including the seaside town of Glenelg, before heading north through the Adelaide Hills to discover the shirazes of the Barossa Valley for 2-3 days. Return to Adelaide, where you can catch a flight (if you have more time you can drive to Cape Jervis from where you catch a ferry) to Kangaroo Island for 3-4 days to check out the local wildlife.

Two Weeks

Spend at least 3 days drinking in the sights of Adelaide and the seaside town of Glenelg before heading north through the Adelaide Hills to discover the Barossa and Clare Valleys (allow 2-3 days for each). Then, head south, back through Adelaide, down the Fleurieu Peninsula to catch the ferry from Cape Jervis to Kangaroo Island (allow 4-5 days). Then back to Adelaide again, stopping at McLaren Vale for 1-2 days en route.
