Expert Review

Originally built in 1887 and known as the Caribbean's first resort hotel, the Crane has undergone gradual renovations over the past decade to keep it running with the best of contemporary Bajan lodging. The resort is ideal for visitors seeking a peaceful respite, not for those wanting to be immersed in an opulent scene, like that of Sandy Lane on the other side of the island. The original coral mansion still stands proudly, with new buildings seamlessly added to the mix. Colonial-style rooms feature high ceilings, Barbadian mahogany furniture, oriental carpets, four-poster king-size beds, Jacuzzi tubs and spa showers. The Crane also has a standout pool complex - choose from the new 1.5-acre cascading pool designed by Venezuelan landscape architect John Stoddard and the classic, Doric-column surrounded beauty, majestically overlooking Crane Beach.
