Budget airline darling JetBlue has noticed those temps dropping, and they’re not leaving us out in the cold. The airline – currently the largest carrier in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic – is rolling out a bevy of new flights this week from New York City-area hubs that will have travelers lifting off to the Bahamas, Dominican Republic, and Costa Rica all winter long (and beyond). Plus, they’ll launch their inaugural flight between San Juan, Puerto Rico, and St. Maarten, providing a wallet-friendly new Caribbean island-hopping option in the region. Read on for the latest, and claim a sun, surf, and sand vacation from just $39 one-way, plus enter for a chance to win a JetBlue Getaways vacation, or nab a promotion to have your surfboard tag along on your next vacation fee-free.

Kicking off today, New York’s Westchester County Airport (HPN) – a reasonable secondary airport option for New York City-area travelers, at just under an hour's drive out of the city – rolls out daily nonstop service to Nassau, Bahamas. It marks the airport’s only current international service; rates start at $119 one-way. Tomorrow (November 16) will welcome the launch of nonstop twice-weekly service between New York’s JFK and the Dominican Republic’s La Romana airport, which is a brand-new destination for JetBlue (and the fifth airport it services in the DR); rates start from $149 one-way. Thursday, November 17, additionally welcomes flights between JFK and Costa Rica’s brand-new airport in Liberia (look for Savvy Flyer’s review of the new airport in a soon-to-post entry); rates start at $119 one-way.

Last but not least, the airline will be rolling out flights between San Juan, Puerto Rico, and St. Maarten come Thursday; rates start at $49 one-way. Look for further expansions in December to debut between San Juan and St. Thomas and St. Croix, in the U.S. Virgin Islands; fares for those routes will start at $39 one-way.

In celebration of their new offerings, JetBlue Getaways will be giving away five 3-night vacation packages per day through Saturday, November 19, to Nassau, La Romana, Liberia, St. Croix, and St. Thomas – you can enter the drawing once daily at www.jetblue.com/instantwin. Plus, everyone who enters will receive a $50 discount code valid for a future JetBlue Getaways vacation.

And if there are any surfers looking to set out on a surf-friendly trip, JetBlue is inviting travelers to “Catch a Waive,” effectively waiving the standard $100 fee for checking in a surfboard (excluding on flights to Bermuda, Santo Domingo, and Santiago); the promotion is valid on travel between November 17 and December 17.
