Getting to Bolivia

Bolivia’s main airport is La Paz International (LPB), one of the world’s highest commercial airports at 13,000 feet. The other major airport in Bolivia is Santa Cruz’ Viru-Viru (VVI).

The only U.S. airline with direct flights to Bolivia is American Airlines, which flies from New York via Miami to La Paz; the return flight stops in Santa Cruz. Another option is to book a flight from New York on Grupo Taca, a consortium of South American airlines, but it involves two changes of planes – in San Salvador, El Salvador, and Lima, Peru. AeroSur is the only domestic carrier with regular flights.

Flight Times

6 hours nonstop from Miami; 11 hours from New York, with one stop; 13 hours from Los Angeles, with one stop.
