Expert Review

In the early 1830s, a night at the 156-room Manoir Victoria – then called the Albion – cost just $1.50 a night. While young hipsters no longer gather here to dance the night away the way they did in the mid-1950s, proximity to the bars and restaurants of rue St. Jean still make it an appealing option for night owls. A 2004 renovation added a handsome new wing to the hotel, as well as a spa that offers wraps in mud, algae, and chocolate. But try to refrain from licking yourself – instead, head to the Resto-Bistro Saint-James, with its extensive menu of local and imported beer.
