Getting to Easter Island

The island's only airport is Mataveri International Airport (IPC) located on the southwest corner of the island. Most travelers first arrive at Santiago Airport (SCL) in Chile.

LAN Chile Airlines is the only company that flies to Easter Island. Flights arrive daily from Santiago and twice a week from Papeete in Tahiti.

Flight Times

Most travelers combine a trip to Easter Island with a trip to Santiago, which means first making the 11 hour flight from New York to Santiago (13 hours and 20 minutes from L.A.), and then, a few days later, flying 5 hours from Santiago to Chile. Flights from Papeete to Easter Island – a less frequent route – are also about 5 hours long.
