It’s all about timing. To avoid crowds and inflated prices, we recommend the period between high and low seasons when the weather is fine, places are still open and happy to welcome travelers, and you can explore a destination at your own pace. ShermansTravel experts call this magical time and space continuum the Sweet Spot.

When to go to Hvar

Peak Season: July to August

Hvar in summer is a true scene, with thumping nightlife and floods of tourists. Make reservations for lodging – and dinner – well in advance.

Off Season: October to March

Ferries are infrequent in the off season, so plan travel ahead. Be flexible, however, since late autumn storms can disrupt service. Many businesses are closed.

Sweet Spot: April to June; September

When it’s not playing host to the summer glamorati, Hvar is quietly beautiful. Enjoy a drink in the main square, or rent a moped or a skiff.  In June, lavender decorates the countryside; September is often still warm enough to swim.
