It’s all about timing. To avoid crowds and inflated prices, we recommend the period between high and low seasons when the weather is fine, places are still open and happy to welcome travelers, and you can explore a destination at your own pace. ShermansTravel experts call this magical time and space continuum the Sweet Spot.

When to go to Split

Peak Season: July to August

Sunbathers are packed head-to-foot along the beach at Bačvice and crowds amble along the waterfront with ice cream. Book six months in advance.

Off Season: October to April

Split is a large port city – the largest city on the Adriatic – so even during off season, there is plenty to do indoors. Smaller restaurants, however, may be closed, and it’s a shame to miss the beaches.

Sweet Spot: May to June; September

Split is hot and sunny in late spring and swimming is definitely an option, but be aware that ferry service to the islands is reduced.
