Getting to Helsinki

Most international and domestic flights arrive at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport (HEL), 10 miles north of the city by car. Local buses and special coaches operated by Finnair (€5.20 each way) stop at many hotels from the airport, though the Finnair buses make only a couple stops on the way out of the city. Figure on around €20 for a taxi.

Finnair, which operates code shares with American Airlines, flies from New York (JFK) to Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. Vantaa is also served by major international carriers, including Lufthansa and British Airways. Finnish carrier Blue 1 can get you to other destinations within the country.
