Getting to French Polynesia

Faa'a International Airport (PPT) in Papeete is French Polynesia's only international airport. All other islands mentioned here have their own small airports, except Taha’a, which is accessed via neighboring Raiatea.

Air Tahiti Nui and Air France fly nonstop to Faa'a (PPT) from Los Angeles, while Hawaiian Airlines has weekly nonstops from Honolulu. The Society Islands, Tuamotus, and Marquesas are served by interisland carrier Air Tahiti.

Flight Times

Air Tahiti Nui flights typically depart Los Angeles in the afternoon and evening and arrive in Papeete at night or early the following morning. The flight time is 8.5 hours from Los Angeles. Air Tahiti makes multiple flights a day between the Society Islands (Tahiti, Moorea, Bora Bora, Huahine, Raiatea) and daily flights to the Marquesas (Nuka Hiva, Hiva Oa) and Tuamotus (Tikehau, Rangiroa, Fakarava) during high season (May–October), with flight times of 10 minutes to 3.5 hours.
