Santorini

Santorini nightlife centers on the capital, Thira, where you’ll find countless small bars and clubs ranging from sophisticated cocktail bars to English-style pubs serving draught beer. For late-night open-air dancing on the beach, head for the seaside resorts of Kamari and Perissa. Greek nightlife starts warming up late, and many venues only begin filling up after midnight. Most bars are open till 3am or later, and many dance clubs party on till sunrise. None charge for cover, but some dance clubs have entry fees for special party nights.

Chilli

Chilli functions as a beach bar during the day, offering sun bed and umbrella rentals and water sports and beach volleyball facilities. Come sunset the DJ plays chill-out tracks, revving up to high-energy dance music as the night sets in and bikini-clad girls dance on the bar.

Ethnic

Overlooking the black-sand beach in Kamari, this mellow bar has a spacious wooden interior and low lighting. Serving cold drinks and light snacks during the day, it turns into a party place after sunset, with a DJ playing world music and rock, and the bar staff mixing great cocktails into the early hours.

Franco's

“Simplicity and a touch of class” is the apt motto at Franco’s, offering stunning caldera views from its terrace in Thira since 1978. An all-time classic, Franco’s is known far and wide for its chill-out chez longues, subtle classical music and opera, and pricey but exquisite cocktails (order a Singapore Sling or Maria Callas champagne cocktail).

Koo Club

Thira’s biggest and most talked about club pulls international celebrities, local socialites, and countless hangers-on. It’s always busy, playing progressive, house, trance, and Greek music, and has five bars – three of which are outside in the palm-filled courtyard garden.

Pelekanos

For a sunset aperitif or a romantic digestive before bed, try Pelekanos. With an early-20th-century neo-classical interior decorated with framed mirrors and potted palms, plus a large caldera-view roof terrace, it’s known for its mellow classical music, jazz, and blues – not to mention its excellent cocktails. During the day, it serves light meals (pasta dishes and colorful salads).
