It’s all about timing. To avoid crowds and inflated prices, we recommend the period between high and low seasons when the weather is fine, places are still open and happy to welcome travelers, and you can explore a destination at your own pace. ShermansTravel experts call this magical time and space continuum the Sweet Spot.

When to go to Piedmont

Peak Season: September to March

Fall is wine and truffle season in the region and the most charming lodging fills early. In Costigliole d'Asti, you can hunt truffles yourself. Piedmont’s mountains were featured at the 2006 Winter Olympics and its 53 resorts draw skiers all winter long.

Off Season: June to August

Summer can be brutally hot, though there are great deals on accommodations and visitors can always find cooler weather in the hills.

Sweet Spot: April to May

Longer days, no crowds, and wildflowers make spring a truly sweet time to visit the region. The herbs are just beginning to bud, finding their way into local restaurants.
