First off, not all luxury ships have personal butlers. And if they do, when you board and get into your suite or stateroom, your butler will likely show up shortly thereafter to inform you about the room’s features (asking how to control the lights is always helpful). They may also ask if you would like any specific beverages stocked in your minibar, prefer a certain type of pillow, and need any clothing pressed. They may also ask if you’d like your bag unpacked or need any restaurant or spa reservations made. Whether you choose to have them complete one or more of these tasks is totally up to you. In general, butlers will leave you to your own devices unless you pick up the phone and call for assistance.
