From long-missed staples that have undergone extensive repair and renovation after Hurricane Irma, to well-known luxury brands expanding to new reaches, here's a handful of properties we can’t wait to visit. Below are the newest Caribbean resorts.

Elite Island Resorts new all-inclusive, adults-only Hammock Cove opened on December 1. Here, guests can relax in one of 42 water-view or waterfront villas, all equipped with private plunge pools and king beds, along with free minibar items and complimentary wifi. Hammock Cove will also have an in-house rum sommelier. A seven-night minimum stay is required, and rates start at $883 per night, depending on the season (based on two adults, includes complimentary night).

On the Dutch side of Sint Maarten, Sonesta’s all-inclusive resort complex — which is comprised of the adults-only Sonesta Ocean Point Resort and the family-friendly Sonesta Maho Beach Resort, Casino & Spa — has reopened following post-Hurricane Irma rebuilding. Notable improvements include a revamped 2,500-square-foot spa, a Caribbean fusion tapas restaurant with sweeping sea views, a romantic al fresco grill, and a new teen zone. Rates at Ocean Point start at $412 per night and rates for Maho Beach start at $238 per night, depending on the season.

Over on the French side of St. Martin comes AMResorts’ newest property. Built on the site of a former RIU resort, this adults-only retreat will open on February 1. Every one of the 258 suites open up to a private balcony. All-inclusive rates cover all meals at six dining options — three à la carte restaurants, a grill, a café, and a buffet — as well as top-shelf spirits and poolside cocktail service. Rates from $517 per night, depending on the season.

Plus, the property has solar panels throughout, a ban on single-use plastics, and employee uniforms made from recycled plastic bottles. Rates from $1,829 per adult (depending on the season) based on a seven-night stay.

S Hotel Jamaica, Montego Bay

The boutique hotel void in Montego Bay was finally filled by S Hotel when it debuted last January. For those looking to escape the all-inclusive resort bubble, S Hotel is ideal. Situated on the public Doctor’s Cave Beach, the property's rooms and public spaces are adorned with local art work and serves up classic Caribbean fare like Escovitch fish and rum punch. Don’t miss a chance to take a dip (and a selfie) at the hotel’s glass-walled rooftop sky pool. Rates from $193 per night, depending on the season.

However, the 384-room resort is set to reopen within the next year. Expect the same dramatic cliffside views of the sea, a new infinity pool with a swim-up bars (plus three other pools), new restaurants, and a wellness-centric spa. Rates have not yet been released.

Marriott’s signature St. Thomas property, Frenchman's Reef Resort & Spa (now renamed Frenchman's Cove), has been under repair since Hurricane Irma hit. The Spice Isle’s all-inclusive luxury options expand on March 1 with the opening of Royalton Grenada Resort and Spa on Magazine Beach. While this is an expansion of the former Starfish Resort, the new Royalton has revamped the property with four restaurants, an outdoor pool, four bars and lounges, a spa, and 261 rooms. Rates from $295 per night, depending on the season. 

The Spice Isle’s all-inclusive luxury options expand on March 1 with the opening of Royalton Grenada Resort and Spa on Magazine Beach. While this is an expansion of the former Starfish Resort, the new Royalton has revamped the property with four restaurants, an outdoor pool, four bars and lounges, a spa, and 261 accommodations. Dreams Curacao Resort, Spa & Casino

Dreams Curaçao is set to open in the coming weeks, and it will be one of the few all-inclusive options on the island. The property is conveniently situated on two beaches, a stones throw from downtown Willemstad. Dine at seven restaurants, take a dip in three outdoor swimming pools, indulge in a spa treatment, or simply relax in your room and take advantage of 24-hour room service. Rates from $327 per night, depending on the season.
