Board a vintage steam locomotive in Vietnam

Take a two-hour trip and traverse both coastal mountain landscapes and some 60 years in time. The Revolution Express experience takes place aboard a pair of 1960s locomotives (the last two of their kind in Vietnam) that have been meticulously restored with luxurious mahogany furnishings, mosaic tiles, and gold accents — a nod to the country's French colonial past. Matching the vibe, passengers will board the train at a French-designed station as a brass band plays and staff in period clothing greet them. Passengers will then travel from the beachy city of Da Nang to the former royal capital of Hue, making three stops along the way to sample Vietnamese food and learn about the country's journey to independence. An exact launch date in 2025 is still to come, so interested "time travelers" should keep an eye on the Revolution Express website.
