Discovery at SEA

Princess has partnered with TV’s Discovery network to offer Discovery at SEA immersive experiences on every cruise geared to the entire family. These include specially developed Discovery and Animal Planet Exclusive Tours —including shore excursions providing access to some of the most exciting animal species on the planet — along with top-deck star-gazing, entertainment offerings, and more. Shark Week is also celebrated with shark-themed activities and games.

The Voice of the Ocean

Plenty of cruise ships offer karaoke, but Princess ups the production factor by bringing the hit musical competition show The Voice to life aboard its ships with The Voice of the Ocean (returning in 2022). Passengers are invited to audition, rehearse with mentors, and perform for three team coaches. However, the audience members have the final say on who will become The Voice of the Ocean.

All-New Original Musicals

Rather than stage-established Broadway shows, Princess is working with Grammy- and Academy-Award-winning composer Stephen Schwartz (of Wicked, Godspell, and Pippin fame) to create exclusive new productions. Don't miss “Magic To Do,” a musical review paired with magical illusions.

Interactive Youth Centers and Teen Lounges

The Discovery partnership carries over into the Princess fleet’s Camp Discovery (The Treehouse for ages 3 to 7 and The Lodge for ages 8-12) with highly interactive programming: Endangered Species and Glacier Bay Jr. Ranger Programs, paper-airplane and LEGO-building contests, Discovery-themed trivia contests and theme nights. The Beach House (ages 13-17) features activities such as Rock the Boat red-carpet parties, dance classes, foosball and video-game tournaments, and Scary Movie Nights. An expansive Sports Court for basketball and volleyball is also popular.

Pizza on Ruby Princess

Some of the Best Pizza at Sea

A perfect hand-tossed crust topped by fresh ingredients and baked to perfection is as traditional as it gets — but the individual-sized pies served in an atmospheric sit-down space (either Alfredo’s or Gigi’s, depending on the ship) with beer and wines by the glass make Princess’s pizza offerings a meal rather than a grab-and-go snack. But, Princess has quick-bite-seekers covered, too, with on-deck Neapolitan-style pizza (from Margherita to pepperoni) offered by the slice at Slice Pizzeria.

Chef’s Table Lumiere

While Princess ships offer plenty of terrific specialty dining options — including authentic pasta and more at Sabatini’s Italian Trattoria, elevated pub fare at Salty Dog Gastropub, and a new and exclusive French bistro dining experience at Bistro Sur La Mer — the most dazzling option for a special occasion at sea is Chef’s Table Lumiere (reservations and extra charge required), where small groups of guests are surrounded by a curtain of light as they enjoy a multi-course tasting menu created and presented by the ship’s executive chef.

Glass and Water Features That Add Sparkle

Water — whether it’s the deep blue waves 128 feet beneath passengers’ feet as they traverse the glass-floored SeaWalk or the illuminated arcs of dancing fountains topping out at 30 feet during the Watercolor Fantasy show — adds a subtle sparkle and glamour to the Royal-Class experience.

A Golden-Hued Piazza

The Italian piazza (square) dates back for centuries as the place where locals meet to talk, eat, sip coffee or wine, and celebrate — and on its Royal-Class ships, Princess has created a glittering, multi-deck venue for gathering pre- or post-dinner to enjoy live music and roving street performers. Elegant marble mosaics and golden spiral staircases create a sophisticated European ambiance, whether you’re sailing the Med, the Caribbean, or Alaska.

Movies Under the Stars

This long-time Princess favorite continues to draw nightly crowds to the pool deck for an outdoor showing of classic favorites, recent releases, sporting events, and musical concerts on a 300-square-foot screen — viewed from comfy chaise lounges as free popcorn and warm cookies are passed out. Videos on demand are also available in staterooms, but the big screen and set beneath the dark sky and twinkling stars appeal to nostalgia lovers (and blankets are available for snuggling on cooler evenings).
