It’s all about timing. To avoid crowds and inflated prices, we recommend the period between high and low seasons when the weather is fine, places are still open and happy to welcome travelers, and you can explore a destination at your own pace. ShermansTravel experts call this magical time and space continuum the Sweet Spot.

When to go to Madrid

Peak Season: April to mid-June; September to October

Temperatures are at their most pleasant, streets bustle with locals, and outdoor activities abound.

Off Season: January to March

The weather is relatively cold and gloomy, the streets and terraces lack action, but hotels do lower their prices.

Sweet Spot: late-June to August

If you can stand the soaring temperatures you’ll get the best bang for your buck in summer months, with one caveat: Most locals leave the city and many restaurants and bars shut down completely, especially in August.
