It’s all about timing. To avoid crowds and inflated prices, we recommend the period between high and low seasons when the weather is fine, places are still open and happy to welcome travelers, and you can explore a destination at your own pace. ShermansTravel experts call this magical time and space continuum the Sweet Spot.

When to go to Zanzibar

Peak Season: July to September

Comparatively cooler and drier with temperatures averaging in the high 70s, this is also the time when tourism on the islands and hotel prices peak. This is especially true during the European summer holiday period in July and August.

Off Season: March to May

During the heavy rains, many hotels close and erratic weather and storms may make conditions unfavorable for diving. Those places that do stay open often offer attractive discounts. Temperatures hover around the low 80s.

Sweet Spot: June; October to February

Expect warmer weather (mid-80s), sporadic rains and fickle winds, especially in November and December. Outside of the busy Christmas-New Year period, these months usually see fewer crowds. June is cooler, drier and--in the early part of the month--crowd-free.
