Expert Review

The main lodging option at the more scenic, far-less-visited North Rim of the Grand Canyon is an atmospheric hotel built in 1937 by Union Pacific Railroad. Perched on bluff some 3,000 feet above the canyon floor, the limestone-and-timber the Lodge affords panoramic views of the canyon. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the property has a casual lodge restaurant that's a great place for a meal, even if you don't stay overnight. Accommodations consist of about 45 motel rooms and 160 spartanly furnished cabins in a variety of sizes set around the property. The most popular of these have canyon views, so reserve early.
