It’s all about timing. To avoid crowds and inflated prices, we recommend the period between high and low seasons when the weather is fine, places are still open and happy to welcome travelers, and you can explore a destination at your own pace. ShermansTravel experts call this magical time and space continuum the Sweet Spot.

When to go to Squaw Valley

Peak Season - November through April

From mid-November through April the snow season beckons skiers and snowboarders from all over the globe.  Temperatures range from the 20s to the 40s.

Off Season – April and May

The quietest season is spring when most travelers’ thoughts have turned away from winter sports, even though there is often skiable snow here until late April.   Temperatures range from the mid 60s to the mid 70s.

Sweet Spot – September and October

In autumn the region is graced with colorful aspen trees, cooler – but not cold – temperatures, fewer crowds, and snow as early as October.  September’s average high is 70 degrees, while temps drop to the 50s in October.
