Crested Butte

It’s all about timing. To avoid crowds and inflated prices, we recommend the period between high and low seasons when the weather is fine, places are still open and happy to welcome travelers, and you can explore a destination at your own pace. ShermansTravel experts call this magical time and space continuum the Sweet Spot.

When to go to Crested Butte

Peak Season: December; February to March

The Christmas holidays and March spring break are the peak periods at Crested Butte. Rates are highest and lift lines are longer.

Off Season: May to November

From May to November, the snow sport crowd abandons the slopes, and Crested Butte becomes a hiking and art show paradise. The town is relatively quiet, and hotel rates drop.

Sweet Spot: January

January is the best-kept secret at ski resorts. Most people have spent their disposable income during Christmas, so the resort is relatively quiet, despite excellent ski conditions. You’ll often find tempting lodging deals during this period.
