From the outside, this glass and brick-clad hotel resembles an office building, but, inside, oriental rugs, oil paintings and abundant floral arrangements in the public areas are pure Ritz-Carlton.  The jazzy space just off the lobby is Westend Bistro, star chef Eric Ripert’s southern-inflected resto, where tourists and business types dip into shrimp and grits, mini-sliders and local okra at tables or the bar. The 300 rooms are done up in soft shades of sage and gold and have gigantic marble bathrooms with extra-deep soaking tubs. For a $15 fee (or complimentary to Club Level guests), guests can utilize the tremendous on-site LA Sports Club, which offers a spa, regulation-size basketball court, a pool, and dozens of classes in addition to weights and cardio equipment.  Although the West End is a quiet part of DC, it’s just a stroll away from both the K Street business district and the clubs and restaurants in DuPont Circle and Georgetown.
