Getting to Sanibel and Captiva Islands

Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers serves the region. Sanibel and Captiva islands are 45 minutes away by car, which includes a $6 causeway toll. Since a taxi runs about $60 each way, we recommend you rent a car, which will also make getting around the islands much easier.

From American to US Airways, most major airlines fly to Southwest Florida Airport. Other airlines include AirTran, Cape Air, JetBlue, Midwest, Spirit, Air Canada, and Lufthansa. Many East Coast and Midwest cities, as well as Toronto, have non-stops.

Flight Times

Southwest Florida Airport is approximately 3 hours from both New York and Chicago. You’ll have to make a connection from the West Coast; a short layover will make for a 7-8 hour journey.
