It’s all about timing. To avoid crowds and inflated prices, we recommend the period between high and low seasons when the weather is fine, places are still open and happy to welcome travelers, and you can explore a destination at your own pace. ShermansTravel experts call this magical time and space continuum the Sweet Spot.

When to go to Maryland

Peak Season: June to August

Hotel rates are high during the summer beach season. College students drowning in beer and margaritas pack the shore during different university beach weeks in June. Tourists crowd Baltimore, but to avoid the thick humidity, locals leave in August and head to the water, which means smaller venues may be closed.

Off Season: November to March

Maryland can be cold and snowy (or rainy) and in places feel almost empty – but lodging prices are very low.

Sweet Spot: April to May; September to October

Visitors who are looking for a tan will need to go during peak season, but for everyone else, late spring and early fall bring long days of mild weather.
