Expert Review

The recently renovated, three-story Huntley Lodge in Big Sky’s base village is a good budget alternative to Moonlight Basin’s pricier properties. The three-story hotel was originally conceived by late NBC newscaster Chet Huntley, and though it had been showing its age (it’s as old as Big Sky resort), the recent improvements make it as welcoming and warm as it’s ever been. The lodge offers a dining room, spa, outdoor Jacuzzi and heated pool, ski shops, and lounge, while rooms are large, comfortable, and simply furnished. Hardwood floors offer a nice rustic touch but can be creaky, so insomniacs be forewarned.
