Hunter Mountain
It’s all about timing. To avoid crowds and inflated prices, we recommend the period between high and low seasons when the weather is fine, places are still open and happy to welcome travelers, and you can explore a destination at your own pace. ShermansTravel experts call this magical time and space continuum the Sweet Spot.

When to go to Hunter

Peak Season: Mid-December to February

Young skiers and snow tubers race down the mountain in winter – weekends and school holidays can be especially crowded.

Off Season: October to mid-December; April to May

Life in the northern Catskills is sweet in fall, when the leaves fire up the mountains, though many attractions may be closed. Spring can be muddy and there may not be much to do.

Sweet Spot: March; June to September

Great package deals sweeten March, as do events like the Winter Carnival, Burton Women’s Camp, and the Cardboard Box Derby. Friday and Saturday nights, take a ride in a Snowcat as they groom the slopes. Once warmer weather hits, so do the festivals, including the German Alps Festival, International Celtic Festival, and Octoberfest.
