This B&B takes its unusual name from the neighborhood: in 1848, upon returning to Pennsylvania after the Mexican-American War, General William Robinson, Jr. named the area’s streets after the war’s battles (Buena Vista, Palo Alto, etc). Today the Mexican War Streets is a federally recognized Victorian-era neighborhood. The inn, once the home of department store entrepreneur Russell H. Boggs, has a magnificent exterior – decorative archways lead onto the inviting front porch – and eight comfortable guest rooms outfitted in dark wood furniture. The B&B is cozy, if not quite as stylish as some in the city, and the central location near a lively dining scene adds appeal, as do extras like WiFi and fresh chocolate chip cookies served every afternoon.
