Stowe Mountain Resort
It’s all about timing. To avoid crowds and inflated prices, we recommend the period between high and low seasons when the weather is fine, places are still open and happy to welcome travelers, and you can explore a destination at your own pace. ShermansTravel experts call this magical time and space continuum the Sweet Spot.

When to go to Stowe

Peak Season: July to mid-November; mid-December to February

Stowe is a hip town with a historic past – that happens to be connected to a ski destination. Interestingly, this means that summer, with attractions like the Alpine slide and the historic Auto Toll Road, and fall, when the trees are lit with autumn color, are as busy as ski season, though discount packages may be available.

Off Season: April to June

Known as “mud season,” there might be snow in April – or just rain. If visitors need an adventurous alternative, hot air ballooning is available nearby in spring.

Sweet Spot: Mid-November; March

Stowe is far enough north that man-made snow comes early and the real thing stays late, often into mid-April, though travelers should call ahead and make sure the mountain is open. Hotel discounts often cut as much as 60 percent, especially mid-week.
