The sound of waves, the feel of ocean breezes, and the briny scent of the sea can jump-start your seafood cravings. Fortunately, several cruise ships are prepared to meet your gastronomic needs with their excellent seafood-focused restaurants. Here are seven of our favorites.

1. Sel de Mer Seafood Brasserie

This innovative brasserie (its name means “sea salt”) features fresh fish delivered to most ports of call by local seafood vendors. This allows the intimate, à la carte restaurant to prepare a lavish, cold fruits de mer platter for two with oysters, mussels, and clams, as well as lobster and crab claws ($49). There’s also a fresh fish of the day prepared as you wish (market price) and favorites including sea bass baked in a salt crust ($26).

This casual, New England-inspired indoor/outdoor venue on the Lido deck specializes in steamed lobster, lobster rolls, crab cakes, and fried clams, which come with corn on the cob, garlic bread, and fries or hush puppies. Order a bucket of peel-and-eat shrimp to share or start with a bowl of New England clam chowder or oyster stew. Pricing is à la carte, with most dishes ranging from $3 to $16. (Lobster and snow crab are priced by the pound.)

Dipping sauces include a decent tartar and an awesome sweet chili.
