Win a trip through G Adventures, a leading adventure travel tour company, by posting your unforgettable travel moment.

Ever looked at a travel brochure and envied the person standing triumphantly on the mountain summit, laughing with the locals, or sitting perched atop the camel? Join the recently announced "You’ll Never Forget It" contest by adventure tour operator G Adventures, and that lucky soul could be you.

The Toronto-based G Adventures, which announced its name change from Gap Adventures this fall, has launched a global search for the new faces of the company’s 2012/2013 brochures and videos. The selected “cast” of three winners will travel to one of the company’s hundreds of worldwide destinations (with all continents represented; the photos above are from Kenya, Africa) beginning in March 2012, for an approximately week-long trip.

Here’s how it works: Submit an “unforgettable travel moment” on the campaign's website in your pick of formats – a 420-character written piece, three-minute video, or photo. The deadline for submissions is December 31, 2011; winners must be available to travel between March 1 and August 31, 2012.

From there, 20 finalists will be short-listed for public voting between January 9 and February 10, 2012. The winners with the most votes will be announced on February 14, 2012 (and that’s what I call a sweet Valentine’s Day gift!).

In previous years, G Adventures had used its own employees and contacts within the travel industry to be the subjects in its print and video promotional material. By opening up the field to the worldwide public, the company aims to promote its core values of “experiencing a destination’s real beauty and culture, beyond all-inclusive hotels and big bus tours,” explained G Adventures public relations specialist Timothy Chan. “It’s a great way to get people to understand how we travel.”

Social media junkies might have an early edge, as the number of votes to your entry determines its ranking, which can only help your chances of being selected as one of the 20 entries on the short list. More importantly, though, Chan stresses that the company is looking for travelers who demonstrate “personality, creativity, and a passion for adventure.”

Which sounds an awful lot like you fine readers. Good luck!
