Hip East London favorite The Hoxton Hotel is gearing up to open its second property this week. The Hoxton Holborn will be opening in Central London on September 25. The new hotel will offer 174 guest rooms in four different sizes and price points: from the smallest 129-square-foot Shoebox to Snug, Cosy, and -- the biggest at 150-square-feet -- the Roomy. There will also be two restaurants run in partnership with Soho House: Hubbard & Bell restaurant and a Chicken Shop serving rotisserie chicken.
Here are a few reasons why you should get to know this exciting and growing chain.Affordable Luxury
Rates at the new Hoxton Holborn start at £69 ($113) a night for the smallest rooms, up to £159 ($260) for the biggest, and include free WiFi, a breakfast bag, and one hour of free phone calls to the U.K., E.U., and U.S. That's a very reasonable price for London, especially for the location and the design-savvy aesthetic. Rates at the original Shoreditch location are a little higher, starting at £89.
To celebrate its opening, the Hoxton Holborn is presenting an immersive theater performance for one night only on Friday, October 17. The Backstage Tour, the hotel says, "is a satire on the contemporary world of show business, art, and celebrity culture, full of sharply observed wit, suspense, and ingenious surprise casting." Performances start every 10 minutes and last one hour. Tickets cost £200 for two, including food and drink and a night at the hotel.
That's not the first time Hoxton has presented a quirky experience at its hotel. Events "inspired by the local area" and working with neighbors to "showcase the good and the great of the cities we form part of," as they say, have included free yoga sessions, rum tasting, live music, and pop-up guest rooms in a shipping container, beach bar, and tattoo parlor.
As well as their second London location, Hoxton Hotels be opening in Paris, Amsterdam, and Brooklyn within the next few years. So even if a trip to London is not on the cards for now, perhaps soon you'll find a Hoxton Hotel on your future travels elsewhere.
