Renowned Dutch designer Piet Boon's eponymous hotel on the Caribbean island of Bonaire is a sleek collection of beachfront villas, each one individually designed in his signature sophisticated style. Bringing beautiful architecture to a dreamy island setting, Piet Boon Bonaire has been a favored nest on the tranquil island since its opening in 2013 -- for those with cash to spare. Ordinarily, a stay at Piet Boon Bonaire is pricey, with rates from $6,000 a week for the three-bedroom Punta Perfecto villa, to $9,900 a week for the three-bedroom Kas Dorrie villa, although, to be fair, that can be split between up to eight guests.

Now, design aficionados with a smaller budget (or fewer traveling companions) have reason to look to the Dutch island off Venezuela's coast. Last month, Piet Boon transformed four villas, surrounded by lush palm gardens around three swimming pools, into The Boon House, the resort's eight-room barefoot-luxury affiliate. Functioning as a laid-back B&B, rates at The Boon House are from $165 per night for a standard room with balcony or $185 for a deluxe with a terrace (there's a three-night minimum stay). Those rates include breakfast, as well as WiFi, use of the kitchen, and a well-stocked honesty fridge.

Even at a fraction of the cost, The Boon House shares the main property's elegant aesthetic, with Piet Boon original furnishings and artwork by Dutch artist Sella Molenaar. There's also a promise of catch-of-the day BBQs and a resident guitar player serenading guests at happy hour. You will have to hurry, though, as The Boon House is only open through September 1, before it closes for good.
