What You Need to Know

The Look of Chetola Resort at Blowing Rock

It's All in the Details

Tucked into the Blue Ridge Mountains and overlooking a quiet private lake, Chetola Resort resembles a secluded estate more than it does a conventional resort. The grounds are dotted with greenery, walking paths, firepits, and clusters of Adirondack chairs. Its lodge-style buildings have pitched roofs, timber-and-stone exteriors, and wraparound porches, evoking the look and feel of summer camp.

The same aesthetic carries into the interiors, where warm woodwork, stone fireplaces, and locally inspired art set the tone. Each of the 50 hotel rooms is furnished with pieces by North Carolina artist Bob Timberlake, best known for his watercolors of Southern landscapes and wildlife, and has a homey, unfussy feel with wood accents, patterned throws, earth-toned textiles, and regional artwork. Some rooms include extras like private balconies, lake views, in-room fireplaces, or soaking tubs. For even more space, opt for one of the condominiums, which range in size from one to four bedrooms.

The Vibe at Chetola Resort at Blowing Rock

If we had to sum up the vibe in three words: calm, cozy, and unfussy. It's the kind of place where people read books, play board games, and linger over dinner at Timberlake's Restaurant & Bar — engaged in conversation rather than glued to screens. Outside of mealtimes, guests spend their time walking wooded trails, lounging in Adirondack chairs, or sipping wine by the fire.
