Luxury cruise line Crystal Cruises announced a new partnership with Tony-winning Broadway producer Kevin McCollum, who over his 25-year career has produced hits such as In the Heights, Avenue Q, Rent, Motown: The Musical, and Something Rotten!
The partnership — debuting this summer — will bring guest singers, dancers, choreographers, and designers to the stage on select sailings on Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony. McCollum will also present performances, lectures, and Q&A with the theater artists.
This is the latest partnership in a trend of cruise lines bringing Broadway talent to sea. Last year, we saw big name partnerships when Princess joined with with Oscar-, Tony-, and Grammy-winning composer Stephen Schwartz to bring "Magic to Do" and "Born to Dance" to the stage, and Seabourn Cruise Line recently partnered with Tony-, Oscar-, and Grammy- winner Tim Rice for an all new show, too. Other lines are staging high-quality productions, such as "Grease" on Royal Caribbean's Harmony of the Seas and "After Midnight" on Norwegian Escape — putting cruise ship entertainment in the spotlight.
