Most fliers pay for coach seats (read: least expensive option) on airlines and use the rest of their travel budget towards a hip hotel or a nice meal out. But what if you paid just a little bit more – to settle into a plush seat in premium business class? That’s the idea of a flash sale hosted by TAM Airlines and happening right now. Book fares through midnight on April 6 -- from New York City, Orlando, and Miami, to Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo in Brazil -- and nab huge savings.
The overall travel period for this promotion is April 2 through September 30 of this year, though specific travel dates vary depending on the route. Here are some prices that you can find for round-trip flights out of the States:
- From $2,799: Miami to Rio de Janeiro (32 percent off)
- From $3,099: New York City to Rio de Janeiro (30 percent off)
- From $2,299: Orlando to Sao Paulo, (48 percent off)
- From $2,899: Miami to Sao Paulo (29 percent off)
- From $3,899: New York City to Sao Paulo (25 percent off)
The flash sale prices can be booked online or via phone at 866-435-9526.
If you were to book a flight in coach on another airline, you’d pay only a small amount less. For example, flying from Orlando to Sao Paulo in late April would cost $2,121 round-trip on US Airways. Pay just $178 more and you'll be up in business on TAM. And what does that mean, exactly? In business class, each seat fully reclines, so that you can lay flat and get a good night’s rest. And instead of simple snacks or pre-set meal service, you’ll order off of an in-flight food menu that includes wines from Europe and South America. To help you feel even more refreshed upon arrival, a complimentary amenity kit for each business class passenger is stocked with luxury Rituals cosmetics and body care products. In other words, we can't think of a reason not to do it.
The Fine Print
Tickets must be purchased at least seven days before departure -- or a 14-day advance purchase for Miami to Sao Paulo and a 21-day advance purchase for New York City to Sao Paulo or Rio de Janeiro. Your trip must cover a stay of at least five nights, and there are quite a few blackout dates to watch out for. Still, if you're flexible in your schedule, it can certainly be done.
