Need an affordable excuse this winter to return to a favorite mountain or try a new one? You can now opt to ski or snowboard more than 200 lifts on 15 mountains in the US and Canada with one money-saving pass. The Mountain Collective offers up more than 38,000 acres of epic terrain at Alta/Snowbird, Aspen/Snowmass, Jackson Hole, Mammoth Mountain, and Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows in the USA, plus Whistler/Blackcomb and Ski Banff-Lake Louise/Sunshine/Norquay in Canada.
The pass is $389 for adults and just $99 for kids under age 12, good for two days at each mountain in the alliance. With daily lift ticket prices nudging past $100 at a growing number of resorts, the pass is a bargain even if you use it just four times. Plus, you get additional days at any resort at half price, with no holiday blackouts -- in addition to exclusive discounts on lodging, lessons, restaurants, off-slope activities, and shopping. Another added bonus? You'll get a one-year complimentary membership in Protect Our Winters, dedicated to supporting snowsports against climate change.
The pass is great value, though it isn't the first of its kind. Vail Resorts' Epic Passes have garnered many slope-loving traveler's attention with its growing list of resorts in Colorado, California, and, with the newest addition of The Canyons, Utah. We can't say for sure whether Mountain Collective, now in its third season, is a response to that -- but there's no arguing that its destinations are epic in themselves either way. They each boast a full gamut of terrain, from gentle cruisers to adrenalin-charged steeps and deeps. And did we mention the Olympic and World Cup runs at several of the mountains?
