Typically, a yoga retreat costs several thousand dollars. But in the Baja California area of coastal Mexico, near the town of Todos Santos, Rancho Pescadero -- a posh spa-focused hotel with only 29 rooms -- is offering two affordable retreats through September 30.
The Surf’s Up two-night package is not only designed to school you in the art of pop-ups -- surf-speak for standing on your board with grace -- through two one-hour lessons, but also includes daily yoga and dinner for two in the Garden Restaurant. And, as with all stays, you'll enjoy breakfast of coffee with pastries and fruit delivered to your room each morning, too. Rates this fall start from $635 for two for both nights in a standard room, complete with a private patio and amenities like beach bags and sarongs. (For stays in a Rancho or Milagro suite, the package starts from $850.)With the Epic Surf package, you get all of the above plus a culinary class and lunch for two, and two 60-minute spa treatments. Rates for this start from $910 in a standard room (and from $1,125 for a Rancho or Milagro suite).
Prices for both packages are based on double occupancy and include taxes. If you want to extend your stay, there’s an offer to reduce additional room nights by 25 percent.
More about the resort: Rancho Pescadero offers equal doses of pampering and adventuring. Two restaurants -- Garden Restaurant, with its own organic gardens, and the day-time Ranch Café, serving up salads and ceviche -- are helmed by a chef couple that cut their chops in Sonoma wine country. In the spa, treatments range from facials to wraps, as well as relaxing massages using hot stones. Farm-to-table cooking classes and mixology primers, along with surf lessons and yoga sessions, round out the fun.
The packages aren't on the resort's website. To book, you must call 910-300-8891.
