Tucked into the rapidly changing Financial District, this 132-suite hotel -- open since last November -- is conveniently located right across the street from a subway station serviced by the city's 2 and 3 trains. The smallest studio apartment is 500 square feet, and all accommodations have a fully equipped kitchen and separate living area. Tones of pewter grey, black, and off-white in the suites are calming but modern, while a 21,000-square-foot fitness center (with classes) is open to all guests at no cost. Other complimentary amenities include morning pastries and coffee, and WiFi. Groceries can be delivered to your room, too. Aussie company Black Fox Coffee recently opened a café on the ground floor, and a rooftop dining option will debut in 2017. Rates are from $191 per night in July and August.

Element New York Times Square West
Part of the Starwood Hotels & Resorts group, this property is close to Times Square and folds in a full breakfast, evening reception, and WiFi. Rooms range from deluxe kings and doubles to studios and one-bedroom suites, with kitchenettes or kitchens, a workstation, and a large bathroom; the color palette here is earthy, with shades of cream, brown, and light green.
