Sometimes, the stars align just right for savvy flyers in search of airfare savings, resulting in a spontaneous shower of fare cutbacks. Registering this astonishing phenomenon on their radar, ShermansTravel editors have tracked the progress of three airfare sales that are set to expire as soon as tomorrow morning, with one-way flights on Virgin America starting from just $39 (between San Francisco and Los Angeles) before taxes.
For the next 12 hours (reserve your seat by 4am EST) Virgin America's promotion will be featuring hot tickets like cross-country flights between New York, Boston, or Washington, D.C., and major West Coast hubs like Los Angeles and San Francisco for as little as $109 (before taxes). Travel is valid between August 25 and October 6; rates are available for just $20 more from October 10 through November 17. Plus, the airline will donate $5 from every ticket purchase to educational nonprofit KIPP (Knowledge is Power Program).
Or, fly AirTran to over 60 destinations in the U.S., Mexico, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and the Bahamas. Discounted routes start from just $44 one-way between Orlando and Nassau, including itineraries from Tampa to New Orleans ($79), Boston to San Juan ($120), and Los Angeles to Atlanta ($124). Book by August 5 and travel through December 15.
Equally penny-pinching, United Airlines’ nationwide sale clocks in at just $59 one-way between Los Angeles and San Francisco, Chicago and Pittsburgh, and Denver and Austin.
