It’s no secret that Boston boasts an abundance of historic highlights (i.e., The Freedom Trail, Faneuil Hall, and the Paul Revere House) as well as a bustling baseball scene (see: The Red Sox), thus attracting history and sports buffs alike. But Beantown is so much more than that, with a thriving culinary and arts scene as well as 23 distinct neighborhoods that make finding the perfect home base, well, not easy. Whatever you came to town for, the Moxy Boston Downtown (part of the Marriott umbrella) in the heart of the Theater District is a great place to do it from.  Keep reading for our full review of this playful, centrally located haunt.

What You Need to Know

The Look of Moxy Boston Downtown

It's All in the Details

While you may want to go out and about to explore all that the city has to offer, Moxy Boston Downtown is practically designed to keep you on its premises thanks to an abundance of games, playful eating and drinking establishments, ‘gram-worthy elements like colorful murals and custom works by street artist Victor “Marka27” Quiñonez and bespoke ceiling light installations, and an industrial-chic backdrop of raw concrete and warm oak plank walls. Pops of the hotel’s signature “Moxy pink” only add to the fun aesthetic.

Housed inside a contemporary glass building, the 24-story hotel sits smack-dab in the middle of the Theater District. Before even stepping foot inside, peek through its floor-to-ceiling glass windows to check out its playful, neon sign-filled common spaces. Post up in the second-floor lobby, which offers communal couches, games (Jenga or Cards Against Humanity, anyone?), a hot pink neon sign, and a cheeky mural that spells out "Find Your Wild." Then, head to the on-site Bar Moxy or the 24th-floor rooftop lounge for cocktails.

The hotel’s 340 rooms are modern and feature floor-to-ceiling windows, chic brown leather headboards, bespoke furnishings, and theater- and concert-themed artwork in homage to the hotel’s Theater District locale. Rooms are purposefully small, with moveable, foldable furniture and tech-savvy touches like keyless entry, USB outlets, and streaming capabilities.
