Ready to spend some of your holiday money? If you're looking to get some overseas R&R, two airlines just announced sales, right in time for the New Year.

South Pacific-bound travelers can enjoy a new, limited-time offer from New Zealand Air. Ending tomorrow at midnight PST, the 72-hour "New Year Sale" is promising $200 off any flights booked to Australia, New Zealand, or the Cook Islands. Additionally, the same offer is also extended to flights between the U.S. and London. The discount applies to any cabin level (Air New Zealand offers four: Economy Saver, Economy Flexi, Premium Economy, and Business Premier), for a travel from January 27 to September 14, 2014.

We plugged in the code (NEWYEAR200) and found flights in early February between NYC and Auckland (with one stop in Los Angeles) for $1,511. This is a better deal than what we found on Virgin Australia, which offers the same flight (except with two stops, in Los Angeles and Sydney) for $1,670. That's a $160 cash savings, plus one less layover. Travelers can also book nonstop flights between Los Angeles and Rarotonga from $919.

For those hoping to get to the U.K. this year, similar savings can be found on flights between Los Angeles and London as part of this same sale. Use the code NEWYEAR200L to knock $200 off, resulting in nonstop fares as low as $708, a good $250 lower than comparable fares in February. (Note that the NEWYEAR200L code is valid for travel from January 13 to June 30, 2014.)

Over at Emirates, no code is required to access their 2014 sale, which can be booked until January 9, with a travel from February 1 to May 31, 2014. Destinations include Bangkok, Dubai, and Mumbai. The latter two are going for as little as $890 round-trip (round-trip from Boston), while Bangkok (from NYC) is a little higher at $1,120. A similar price can be found on fares to Dubai on Russian-based carrier Aeroflot, but it involves a layover in Moscow, whereas Emirates is nonstop. Aeroflot also offers comparable fares to Bangkok, but for a better in-flight experience (food, entertainment, seat comfort, etc.), Emirates wins.
